This life is in desperate need of love
As all things need sunlight
As a baby needs its mother’s milk
As summer noon needs sea breezes …”.
Yes! Love is always the most priceless, which all of us are in desperate need in this life as such the air to breathe and to live. Also, love is the source of boundless power which can level the differences (or distances) in geography, religion, peoples, standing and so on …, helping drive away all conflicts and hatred among people…As of children whose buds of life have just sprouted, very weak and fragile, they are in desperate need of being patted and loved more than ever. But, life sometimes has too much harsh and ruthless truth. Each day glides by, countless innocent babies are abandoned, and countless resulting parents must suffer from great torment and obsession throughout their lives for committing an unforgivable mistake. And countless compassionate hearts have to feel extremely painful whenever they know such the baby abandonment and hope that there will be an on-going miracle to these children … And the miracle comes when a woman with a kind and humane heart appears timely to help and protect these children unconditionally. This is Ms. Huynh Tieu Huong, a mom of almost 350 orphaned and disabled children at Que Huong Humanitarian Center, Tan Dong Hiep Ward, Di An Town.
When she named herself Huynh Tieu Huong, she only dared hope to be “a pinch of favoring” among this vast and boundless life. But now, for these children, she is their peaceful heavens and stable fulcrum. Because, without the presence of Tieu Huong Mom, how these miserable babies can taste their deep sleep in the soft quilt, and warm mattresses, be satisfied as much as possible by the cool baby bottles, be cared for, and carried on their backs as other children with their natural parents … Having no Tieu Huong Mom, how these “magpies” can be free to sing, play, and expand their aptitude and become brilliant stars in the sky of art and sport … Without the mother’s support to help them step into life, how these boys, and girls who always feel inferiority complex about their conditions can confidently set their firmer steps on their feet and stretch themselves to happily step together … Ms. Huynh Tieu Huong is ready to do whatever is considered to be good and vital for the children. Thus, her endless love and sacrifice has always spread to all the ins and outs of the society. Reaching beyond the territorial limits of a locality and a nation, the name of Huynh Tieu Huong and Que Huong Humanitarian Center have become household names and been known by humane hearts all over the world. Thus, her shelter has gradually become a familiar and close rendezvous for international volunteers.
To light up the children’s knowledge, every year, especially when summer arrives, hundreds of students from various colleges and universities in USA, Australia, Canada, France, Japan and South Korea…just to name a few converge on the Shelter of Que Huong Humanitarian Center to kick off their journey of lighting up the green dream for the children here. No one told anyone, each day, these volunteers together sweep, paint, and renovate the center and classrooms. Some of them have been playing the roles of teachers to teach informatics and foreign languages to these children. Especially, some of the volunteers are dedicated to caring, coddling, and chatting with these newborns as if they are their full brothers and sisters (their siblings) and relatives. Watching the campus of Que Huong humanity center which becomes most bustling by far thanks to the figures of these international volunteers, and watching the children passionately studying and joking in the warm and friendly atmosphere, we can savvy that the light of love and knowledge has been flooding this shelter.
This is the exchange of musical performances and gifts-handing to the children of Que Huong humanitarian center by the students from France. Like other students, the daily routine of these French students is to go to the lecture hall, and to the library. And when summer arrives, they are together going on holiday or vacation. But during the last summer, these French students have ignored these hobbies to together take on the very meaningful stuff: that is to make a humanitarian journey to Vietnam. After their fact-finding mission and grasping quite enough information about various humane shelters in operation in Vietnam through shedloads of different information channels, they decided to choose Que Huong humanitarian center to realize their many charitable and humanitarian benefactions. Although the children do not fully understand all the lessons being taught by these French students and can not talk, or share with each other due to the language differences and or barriers, but thanks to the ardent and sincere attitude through the games, and fun-filled musical items overwhelmed with childhood’s colors, these less fortunate children have found out the same thinking in their soul, that is to constantly conquer and cross their body’s limits to realize their dreams and ambitions and then reach the much more betterment in life. It seems that there is no geography, ethnicity and skin color distance at all. The children’s rounded, bright and happy eyes and their cute faces with radiant joy have converged on the volunteers’ earnestly gentle eyes along with the loving and affectionate gestures. It is just like what someone had said that: love helps bring people closer together.
After the journeys of charitable benefactions, these international volunteers to Que Huong Shelter are to be back their daily life and work. And as it has been said: love pervades love … Volunteers at large, in another country, have different culture and language but they have only one thing in common – the humane heart toward unfortunate children who are in desperate need of sharing. The volunteers have been proceeding with their love-sharing journey. In such the way, over the few years, Que Huong Humanitarian Center has rarely been in short of international volunteers. Their seemingly ordinary and simple things stay extremely profound. They not only remind us of human beings’ compassion and love as well as the caring and sharing with the poor and lonely lives, but more importantly, can also warm up these children’s innocent hearts, and light up their countless bright internal ambitions and aspirations. The volunteers’ traveling companionship is also a source of motivation to help the children’s venerable mother – Ms Huynh Tieu Huong – to have further faith and strength to set her firmer steps on the humanitarian path down the road./.
